Riverside settlers in Tulsipur participate in preparedness training against flood

Tulsipur Municipality in Dang has partnered with various organisations in the district to train people living in flood-prone areas on risk management and preparedness.

As part of the training a flood preparedness drill was organised for the people living on the banks of Patu River on Friday.

The drill was focused on pre-disaster information sharing, rescue techniques and relief work, among others.

Nearly 400 families living close to the Patu river banks have been dealing with flood problem almost every year during rainy season.

Jharendra Kharel, the information officer of Tulsipur Municipality, said the training was designed to provide the people with concepts and methods for integrated approach to flood risk management.

Fifteen-year-old Sushma Pariyar, of Tulsipur-9, said with the training knowledge she has, she now knows how to conduct herself and what to do in times of flood.

Local female community health volunteers and health workers also received training on emergency treatment.

Community health volunteer Radha Devi Neupane said the instructions given in the training would be helpful for her and other volunteers to treat persons injured in the events of flood.
