Sikkim has its seperate history as a Country.
Its true that with the time, some parts were annexed and returned by Nepal, Bhutan and British but Sikkim has a history even before Unification of Nepal. So you cannot say It was British who parted Sikkim from Nepal.
yes, there are people in both sides (almost 65% nepalese) who look the same, speak same language, follow same customs and religion, eat same type of food, celebrate same festivals, and there would be no problem if we were the part of same country. But that is not just sufficient and necessary condition for people to be in same country.
Why don't you take an example of India itself? Punjabi sikh has nothing in similarity to Hindu Tamil. Different race, colour, language, religion, food, customs, yet both Indian.
